CURRENT NEWS
There are a huge interest in the Kalahari Red Breed and because it is so difficult to market a new breed we as Kalahari Red Breeders have decided to work together with the South African Boergoat Association and thus to use a lot of their already existing structures. We are very grateful to the SABGA that they invited us to do that as we are only a few Kalahari Red Breeders and it was not viable for us to have our own office etc. etc.
Now we have all the privileges of the SABGA for example we do shows and sales together, we advertise in the same Boergoat News, we use the same office with the same outstanding secretary, same inspectors to inspect the goats and many more.
Although we want to concentrate more on performance testing we have decided to show as well so that we can market our breed and therefore in May 2005 we had our first South African National show for the Kalahari Red’s together with the SABGA in Upington.
Time flies and I can't believe our National show is past and we are gearing us for our Production sale in October in Pretoria.
The sale in October 2007 was a great success. We had 70 does for sale with outstanding qaulity, 65 were stud does and 5 flock does and our average price per doe was R4850. The highest price doe was sold for R14 000.
The 12 bucks for sale fetched an average price of R7000 with the highest price R30 000.
On the 11 October 2008 sale we will have excellent breeding stock for sale, some very good young stud does as well as older stud does. Buffel, the World Senior Champion buck will also be for sale and most of the does will be pregnant with him.
The World Champion show was held in May in Bloemfontein and breeders from Namibia, Northern Cape, Eastern Cape, Bushveld attended.
12 Breeders showed 310 goats and the quality of the goats improved by leaps and bounds.
Our stud did very well - see show results page.
We won the Grand Campion buck and doe.

We will host a PRODUCTION SALE again on 11 October 2008 at the Pretoria showgrounds and sell the nucleus of our stud.
100 Does and 20 Bucks will be on sale. Does will be different age groups and some of our show does will be on sale too. We also plan to sell the 2008 Grand Champion buck Buffel.
Does for sale will have a very high fertility. In October 2006 we lambed 120 does of which 70 of these will be on sale. We lamb in small camps, about 10ha with about 30 does in each camp. Every morning we walk through the goats and tag the lambs of the previous day. All the does, except one who died, raised their kids on the veld till weaning stage. We put them out in the veld when they are about three weeks old. 25 Does had triplets: 25 does, 75 lambs! The triplet does and lambs we put in a separate river camp and gave the kids some creep feed. Total lambs weaned from 120 does were 236. This is just an example of the mothering abilities of our does. We plan to breed the does end of May with top stud bucks so that does on sale will be pregnant and lamb from excellent bucks.
